SweepStar Stories

A 2024 study estimates there are around 860,000 domestic workers in South Africa. At Sweepsouth, we serve a small fraction of those women, with the aim of creating dignified, meaningful work opportunities. It’s been our founder’s vision from day one.

We spent time with, filming and speaking to some of the domestic workers on our platform — Natasha, Nosisa, Ever and Sibongile — SweepStars, who generously shared their stories with us. It was moving, eye-opening, and a reminder of one universal truth: we’re all working hard for a better future, especially for our children.

SweepStar Stories was created in collaboration with Mickey Llew, who graciously offered their studio, equipment, and time.
